Rigger - Foreman
Description
We are seeking an experienced Foreman with Crane Signaling Experience to join our construction team. This skilled individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently preparing, securing, and moving heavy materials and equipment on construction sites using various rigging techniques and calling in crane signals via radio and hand signals. All crane signaling and rigging training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess load weights, balance points, and structural integrity before lifting operations
- Select appropriate rigging equipment including slings, shackles, wire ropes, and chains based on load requirements
- Properly secure loads
- Use standard hand signals and radio communications to guide crane operators
- Inspect all rigging equipment for wear, damage, or fatigue before each use
- Participate and Lead daily job safety analysis and toolbox meetings
- Maintain rigging equipment inventory and ensure proper storage
- Read and interpret lift plans and technical drawings
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other trades to coordinate complex lifts
- Comply with all OSHA regulations and site-specific and/or company safety protocols
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in rigging and material handling in construction
- Valid rigging certification and crane signaler qualification or willingness to obtain it
- Knowledge of load calculation, center of gravity principles, and lift planning
- Ability to read and understand technical lift plans
- Strong understanding of OSHA and ANSI standards related to rigging and lifting
- Experience with various types of rigging equipment and hardware
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team, encouraging a positive and collaborative environment
- Physical capability to perform the essential functions of the job
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Work is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Travel to different job sites throughout California may be required
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds regularly
- Typical schedule is Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday work based on project needs
