Marimed Foundation is currently accepting applications for a Full Time Captain/Master for our sailing school vessel, Makani Olu. Hawaii's only sailing school vessel's Captain must be able to demonstrate leadership, excellent sailing skills, prior experience serving as a watch officer, and experience managing crew. This is a full time year around position that is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the ship as well as serves as the lead instructor for our Maritime Careers Exploration and Placement, SALTY, and Career Pathways programs.

Job Description:

The Captain will be responsible for overseeing the crew, insuring the ship meets all USCG regulations, insuring all foundation policies and procedures are followed by crew and students, oversees maintenance of the ship and other foundation equipment, and instruction/teaching sailing students.

Qualifications/Experience:

Applicants must possess the following:

-Minimum of 100 Ton Master Near Coastal with Auxiliary Sail Endorsement
-Teaching experience
-Sailing experience
-Watch Officer experience
-Dry Dock experience
-Maintenance experience
-Minimum of 2 years prior experience serving as a Captain

Prefer applicants to have the following:
-Experience sailing in Hawaii
-Outboard repair/maintenance experience
-Engineering experience
