A-Level Automotive Diagnostic Technician

Description

We’re looking for an experienced A-Level Automotive Diagnostic Technician with strong electrical and drivability skills.

This is not a general technician position and it’s not a training role. We need someone who can take a difficult problem, work through it methodically, and get to the actual cause — not guess and replace parts.

Your primary focus will be advanced diagnostics. You’ll also be a technical resource for the rest of the shop, helping other technicians when they get stuck and keeping difficult jobs moving.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Advanced electrical and drivability diagnostics
  • Troubleshooting intermittent and difficult-to-find problems
  • Testing and confirming failures before parts are replaced
  • Helping other technicians with complex diagnostic issues
  • Providing direction when a job gets stuck
  • Communicating findings and recommended next steps clearly
  • Performing repairs when needed, but your primary focus will be diagnostics
What We’re Looking For

  • A-Level automotive technician with significant hands-on experience
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Strong drivability diagnostic experience
  • Comfortable using wiring diagrams, scan data, meters, scopes, and other diagnostic equipment
  • Able to work through problems independently instead of relying on parts swapping
  • Able to clearly explain your diagnostic process and findings
  • Comfortable being the person other technicians come to when they need technical help
  • Takes pride in accurate diagnosis and doing the job right
**This position requires professional automotive diagnostic experience. We are not looking for an entry-level technician or someone looking to learn diagnostics on the job.**

Pay

  • $40–$55/hr depending on experience and diagnostic ability
  • Hourly pay — not flat rate
  • Performance bonus opportunity based on overall shop production
  • Weekly pay
Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • 1-hour lunch
  • No weekends
About the Shop

We’re a busy independent neighborhood shop with a steady flow of cars and plenty of work.

We’re continuing to improve our systems and workflow as we grow, and this position will play an important role in strengthening the technical side of the shop.

We care about getting the diagnosis right, doing honest work, and taking care of our customers. We’re looking for someone who brings that same mindset and wants to take ownership of the diagnostic side of the shop.
