Agricultural, Wildlife and Nature Preserve Estate Maintenance Specialist
Location: Dodge County, Wisconsin – just east of Columbus
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Compensation: $25–$45 per hour, based on experience and skill level

About the Position
This position is located on our 650-acre family farm in Dodge County, Wisconsin, just east of Columbus. We are looking for a dependable, skilled, and motivated person who would enjoy becoming an important part of our farm and country lifestyle.
This is not a position where every day looks the same. The farm offers a wide variety of work, projects, challenges, and opportunities to learn. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working outdoors and with their hands, and appreciates the sense of accomplishment that comes from maintaining and improving a large property.
The primary responsibility of this position is the upkeep, maintenance, and improvement of the farm and estate.
Responsibilities
Depending on the season and current projects, responsibilities may include:
Landscaping and general groundskeeping
Property and estate maintenance
Land and habitat conservation
Forestry and woodland maintenance
Tree planting and care
Trail maintenance and trimming
Gardening and landscape planting
Mowing and vegetation management
Soil preparation, planting, and tilling
Hay production on approximately 40 acres, including making large round and square bales
Firewood production for approximately two weeks each year
General farm and property improvement projects
Knowledge of trees, plants, germination, soil conditions, and the effects of Wisconsin's changing seasons and weather is valuable.
Mechanical & Trade Skills
This position requires someone who is generally handy and comfortable troubleshooting problems.
Experience or working knowledge in some of the following areas is preferred:
Light carpentry
Basic plumbing
Basic electrical work
HVAC-related maintenance
Internal-combustion engines
12-volt electrical systems
Mechanical troubleshooting and minor repairs
General equipment and property maintenance
Safe operation of hand and power tools
Additional trade or mechanical skills are welcomed and valued.
Equipment Operation
Candidates should have experience safely operating equipment such as:
Skid steers
Tractors and farm implements
Trucks and trailers
Mowers and landscaping equipment
Various power tools
Other farm or heavy equipment
The ability to safely load, secure, transport, operate, and maintain equipment is an important part of the position.
Project Coordination
This role will also involve helping organize and complete projects throughout the property. Responsibilities may include communicating with subcontractors and vendors, coordinating schedules, planning projects, ordering or organizing materials, and following projects through to completion.
Good communication and organization are important.
Safety & Maintenance
Safety is a priority on our farm. The person in this position will be expected to operate equipment responsibly, maintain an organized work environment, and identify and report maintenance or safety concerns.
Accurate recordkeeping, equipment maintenance reporting, and communication about completed and upcoming work are important parts of the job.
