Apartment Maintenance technician

Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING

We are a staffing company that works specifically with apartment communities throughout the Phoenix metro area.

We are not a general labor staffing agency and we do not send people to warehouses, construction sites or random jobs. We have been staffing the multifamily industry for over 30 years. Apartment communities call us when they need experienced maintenance help, and we send qualified technicians to work directly onsite at those communities.

If you are not interested in working through a staffing company, this probably isn’t the right opportunity for you.

This is not an entry-level position.

You need at least 2 years of hands-on apartment maintenance or strong residential maintenance experience. You should already be comfortable completing apartment turns and work orders on your own without needing someone to train you on the basics.

You should know how to handle things like:

  • Plumbing repairs
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Drywall and painting
  • Replacing outlets, switches, light fixtures and ceiling fans
  • Toilets, faucets, garbage disposals and basic plumbing fixtures
  • Appliance troubleshooting and repair
  • Apartment turns and make-readies
  • General repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnosing common maintenance problems instead of just replacing parts
You must have:

  • Your own basic maintenance tools and drill/impact driver
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Working phone and reliable communication
  • Clean criminal background
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Reliable attendance
EPA 608, HVAC and pool certifications are not required for every assignment, but they can qualify you for more opportunities.

Pay: $23 - $25/hr

Most schedules are Monday through Friday, typically 7–4 or 8–5. Some positions may require on-call or overtime.

We have temporary, long-term temporary, temp-to-hire and emergency fill-in opportunities.

Understand how our assignments work before applying:

Our jobs are at apartment communities throughout the Valley. We do not control where the openings are. Properties contact us when they need help, so the more flexible you are with your commute, the more opportunities we can offer you.

When a property calls us, it’s usually because they need help. They may be short staffed, behind on work orders, behind on turns or dealing with other issues onsite. You need to be comfortable walking into a busy environment, communicating with the onsite team and getting to work.

Some assignments are temp-to-hire, but being sent to a temp-to-hire position does not guarantee you will be hired.

Think of it as a working interview.

You aren’t sitting in an office telling the property what you can do. You’re showing them.

Show up. Communicate. Take initiative. Do good work. If you finish something, ask what’s next. The properties are looking for technicians they can depend on and potentially keep long term.

If you accept an assignment, we expect you to show up. We understand that life happens, but repeated call-outs, last-minute cancellations or poor communication will affect whether we contact you for future assignments.

On the other side of that, if you show up, know what you’re doing and we get good feedback from the property, we will work hard to keep you working when assignments end.

Our process is simple:

Send us your resume or a detailed description of your maintenance experience.

We’ll complete a phone screening, run the required background process and get qualified technicians in front of properties quickly.

No unnecessary trip across town just to sit in our office for an interview. You prove yourself by doing the work.

When responding, please include:

  • How many years of apartment maintenance experience you have
  • The types of repairs you can complete independently
  • Your HVAC experience
  • What part of the Valley you live in
  • Whether you have reliable transportation
  • Whether you have your own tools
  • Your current availability
  • Any EPA/HVAC/pool certifications
  • What you’re looking for: temporary/support work, temp-to-hire, or open to either
If you know apartment maintenance, have your tools, have reliable transportation and are serious about working, respond to this ad.
