Position Title: Apprentice Concrete Carpenter

Responsibilities:
- Assist in building forms or molds that shape the concrete into the desired structure, using materials such as wood, metal, plastic, or prefabricated form systems, under the direction of journey-level carpenters
- Help place and align forms according to blueprints, specifications, and levels, under the direction of journey-level carpenters
- Assist in forming concrete foundations, columns, beams, floors, stairs, and other structural components according to project requirements
- Carefully remove forms once the concrete has cured, following the foreman's stripping sequence, without damaging the newly set concrete or surrounding structures
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications as part of on-the-job training and apprenticeship coursework
- Help measure and mark locations for forms and other components based on project plans.
- Safely operate carpentry hand and power tools, such as saws and drills, after receiving proper training.
- Help check work for accuracy and report issues to a foreman or journey-level carpenter
- Take direction from foremen and superintendents, and work cooperatively with laborers, cement masons, ironworkers, and other trades
- Assist with setting prefabricated concrete elements as directed. "Ensuring they are properly installed" is dropped because it's a journey-level responsibility
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site
- Other duties as assigned
- At least age 18
- High school diploma
- Basic math skills, including fractions, and the ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to perform strenuous tasks and fine manipulation with your hands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods, left and carry heavy materials (up to 100 lbs.)
- Ability to work around loud noises and in a dusty environment
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to follow instructions closely and perform tasks with precision to ensure quality results
- Understanding of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors
- Willingness to enroll in, or current enrollment in, a registered carpenter apprenticeship program, including required classroom training
- Ability to travel and provide your own transportation to jobsites in the Billings, MT area
- Ability to pass a drug test
