Apprenticeship to Become Land Manager for Unique P

Description

We are looking for a long term land manager who will begin as an apprentice on a 6 acre property on the Rio Lucero. This property is diverse and sprawling: there are lawns, gardens, fields, irrigation ditches, ponds, and numerous varieties of big trees.

The applicant needs to be a great lover of the earth. This will be a dream job for the person we are looking for because the property is wonderful, varied, and truly sacred...nature at its most beautiful. The skillsets desired are landscaping, light carpentry, handyman skills, equipment operation, maintenance, and repair. We’re looking for someone who is trustworthy, self driven, willing to learn, and able to retain information. As the eventual land manager, you will work alongside the landowner and manage a small staff.

The commitment is 4 days a week, 6 hours a day, March through November every year. We want someone who will be with us and return seasonally for 3 to 5 years. There is some work during the winter like snow shoveling and chopping kindling but hours are greatly reduced.

Because this property is unique and has multiple features, the applicant will be asked to apprentice under the current land manager for the remainder of this season and partially through summer 2027 for a wage of $20 to $25 an hour based on experience. Once the job has been mastered, a higher monthly salary will be set.
