Position Overview

NextGen Marine Insulation is seeking a skilled and dependable Marine Insulation Installer to install Armaflex and other flexible elastomeric insulation on chilled water piping and HVAC systems aboard yachts and superyachts.

The ideal candidate has experience working with Armaflex or similar closed-cell insulation and understands the importance of producing a completely sealed, vapor-tight insulation system. Marine or yacht experience is preferred, but candidates with strong commercial HVAC or mechanical insulation experience will also be considered.

This is detailed, hands-on work where craftsmanship and appearance matter. Installations must not only perform correctly but also meet the high visual standards expected aboard luxury yachts.

Responsibilities

• Install Armaflex insulation on yacht chilled water piping systems
• Insulate straight pipe, 90° and 45° elbows, tees, valves, flanges, strainers, pumps and other complex components
• Measure and cut insulation accurately for professional-fitting installations
• Properly glue seams, joints and fittings using approved insulation adhesives
• Maintain continuous vapor barriers to prevent condensation and moisture intrusion
• Identify and correct gaps, poorly sealed seams and other potential condensation points
• Remove and replace existing insulation when required
• Work around tight machinery spaces, engine rooms, mechanical rooms and overhead piping
• Produce clean, uniform and visually professional finished installations
• Protect surrounding yacht finishes and maintain a clean work area
• Follow vessel, shipyard and company safety requirements
• Coordinate with HVAC technicians, engineers, project managers and other trades when necessary

Qualifications

• Experience installing Armaflex, Aeroflex or similar flexible elastomeric insulation preferred
• Marine, yacht, HVAC or mechanical insulation experience strongly preferred
• Understanding of chilled water piping and condensation control
• Ability to measure, cut, fit and glue insulation accurately
• Experience fabricating insulation fittings is a major plus
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and machinery areas
• Ability to work from ladders and in overhead positions
• Dependable, punctual and able to work independently
• Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working aboard high-value vessels
• Must have reliable transportation

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work. Yacht insulation requires a higher level of finish than typical commercial insulation. Clean seams, tight joints, proper adhesive application, vapor integrity and overall appearance are extremely important.

Candidates who already have experience insulating chilled water systems with Armaflex are highly preferred.

Compensation : $30-$40 per hour

Competitive pay based on insulation, HVAC and marine experience.
