About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Foreman to lead one of our paving crews and oversee daily field operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands asphalt paving, can effectively manage a crew, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work safely and efficiently.

The Paving Foreman reports directly to the Superintendent and is responsible for planning and directing the day's work, coordinating crew members and equipment, making daily asphalt mix calls to the plant, communicating jobsite needs, and ensuring each project is completed safely, on schedule, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise the daily activities of an asphalt paving crew.
Coordinate manpower, equipment, trucking, and materials to maximize production.
Make daily asphalt mix calls to the asphalt plant and manage material quantities throughout the day.
Review project plans and daily production goals with the Superintendent.
Maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite.
Direct paving operations, including layout, grade, paving sequence, joints, compaction, and finished product quality.
Coordinate with truck drivers to maintain a continuous flow of asphalt.
Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies.
Complete daily reports including labor, equipment usage, production, and material quantities.
Communicate project progress, equipment needs, schedule changes, and jobsite issues to the Superintendent.
Perform pre-shift equipment inspections and ensure equipment is maintained properly.
Work alongside the crew as needed to keep production moving.
Maintain positive working relationships with customers, inspectors, suppliers, subcontractors, and fellow employees.
Ensure all work complies with company standards, project specifications, and applicable state and federal requirements.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of asphalt paving experience; previous foreman or crew leadership experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of paving operations, including pavers, screeds, rollers, grade control, compaction, and material flow.
Experience ordering asphalt and coordinating directly with asphalt plants.
Ability to lead crews, solve problems in the field, and communicate effectively.
Ability to read plans and anticipate jobsite needs.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
Willingness to work early mornings, overtime, and occasional weekends as project schedules require.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
