Auto Body Paint Department Prepper

Prestige Auto Body is seeking an experienced, dependable Paint Department Prepper to join our team. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality work, stays organized, and can keep vehicles moving efficiently through the paint department.

Responsibilities

Prepare vehicles and automotive parts for refinishing
Sand, feather-edge, scuff, and prime repaired surfaces
Apply body filler and perform minor surface corrections when needed
Mask vehicles properly to prevent overspray
Clean and degrease panels before painting
Identify surface imperfections before vehicles enter the paint booth
Assist the painter with mixing materials and preparing parts
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
Follow production schedules and communicate delays or concerns
Work closely with painters, body technicians, and the production manager
Follow all shop safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines
Qualifications
Previous auto body paint-preparation experience preferred
Knowledge of sanding, masking, priming, and refinishing procedures
Ability to produce clean, consistent, paint-ready surfaces
Strong attention to detail
Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced collision-repair environment
Must have reliable transportation
Valid driver’s license preferred
