Description
Cerf Motorworks is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Auto Body Shop Associate to join our restoration and repair team specializing in vintage and classic automobiles. This hands-on position supports a variety of body shop and restoration activities including vehicle preparation, sanding, disassembly and reassembly, body repair assistance, metal work, and overall shop organization.
The ideal candidate has experience in an automotive body shop environment, enjoys working on classic and collectible vehicles, and takes pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform body repairs, restoration projects, and cosmetic repairs on vintage and classic automobiles
Perform sanding, grinding, masking, and surface preparation for painting and refinishing work
Disassemble and reassemble vehicle components carefully to preserve original parts and finishes
Support body technicians with rust repair, panel replacement, fabrication, and metal finishing
Help maintain restoration quality standards and project timelines
Operate shop tools, body repair equipment, and power tools safely and effectively
Inspect vehicle surfaces and components for damage or imperfections
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Move vehicles and organize materials throughout the shop as needed
Communicate effectively with technicians and management regarding project progress
Qualifications:
Previous experience in an auto body shop, restoration shop, or automotive repair environment preferred
Experience working with vintage, antique, muscle, or classic cars strongly preferred
Basic knowledge of body repair techniques, sanding equipment, and shop safety practices
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn restoration techniques
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Skills:
Body filler and panel preparation experience
Paint prep and refinishing knowledge
Experience with vehicle disassembly and reassembly
Familiarity with restoration projects and preservation of classic vehicles
Ability to handle specialty or hard-to-find vehicle components carefully
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Frequent bending, kneeling, and use of hand and power tools
