Automotive Diagnostic Technician

Description

Automotive Diagnostic Technician – Flag Rate

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Diagnostic Technician who is highly confident diagnosing vehicles and finding the actual root cause of problems.

This position is ideal for a technician who is comfortable taking on difficult diagnostic work, works efficiently, and knows how to properly test a vehicle instead of simply replacing parts until the problem goes away.

What You'll Be Doing

Diagnose check engine lights and drivability concerns

Diagnose electrical and wiring problems

Diagnose starting, charging, and battery issues

Diagnose overheating and cooling-system concerns

Diagnose suspension, steering, brake, and mechanical issues

Diagnose noises, vibrations, warning lights, and intermittent problems

Read and interpret scan-tool data, trouble codes, wiring diagrams, and technical information

Perform electrical testing with multimeters and other diagnostic equipment

Determine the root cause of vehicle problems

Provide clear diagnostic findings and recommended repairs

Complete repairs when assigned

Work efficiently and accurately to maximize flagged hours

What We're Looking For

We are not looking for an entry-level technician.

The right candidate should:

Have strong automotive diagnostic experience

Be extremely comfortable diagnosing modern vehicles

Have strong electrical diagnostic skills

Understand how to properly test components before recommending replacement

Be comfortable using professional scan tools and diagnostic equipment

Be able to work independently without needing constant assistance

Be organized and document findings clearly

Have their own tools

Have a valid driver's license

Take pride in fixing vehicles correctly the first time

ASE certifications are a plus, but real-world diagnostic ability is more important to us than certifications.

Compensation

Flag-rate / flat-rate pay

Your earning potential is based on your experience, diagnostic ability, efficiency, and production. We want a technician who can consistently produce quality work and flag strong hours.

Who Will Do Well Here

If you're the technician other people come to when they can't figure out what's wrong with a car, we want to talk to you.

We're looking for someone who understands that good diagnostics means testing, verifying, and finding the cause — not guessing and throwing parts at a vehicle.
