Automotive Mechanic & Smog Repair Technician

Pay: $32.00 - $42.00 per hour (based on experience)

Automotive Repair & Smog Repair Technician/Mechanic

Natomas Smog Shop & Auto Repair, a NAPA Auto Care Center and California Certified STAR Smog Station in Sacramento, is looking for an experienced Automotive Repair & Smog Repair Technician to join our growing team.

We are a busy, family-oriented independent shop focused on quality repairs, excellent customer service, and long-term team members who take pride in their work.

*Responsibilities*

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain domestic and import vehicles
• Perform smog inspections, diagnostics, and emissions-related repairs
• Conduct routine maintenance services including brakes, suspension, fluids, tune-ups, and engine diagnostics
• Identify vehicle issues accurately and recommend proper repairs
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
• Maintain accurate repair orders and inspection documentation
• Communicate professionally with service advisors and customers
• Follow all safety procedures, BAR regulations, and shop standards
• Properly use and maintain shop equipment and diagnostic tools

*Qualifications*

• Minimum 4 years of automotive repair experience preferred
• Valid California Smog Inspector & Repair Technician License required
• Strong understanding of engine performance and emissions systems
• Experience with diagnostic scanners and modern repair equipment
• ASE certifications are a plus
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong work ethic, communication skills, and attention to detail
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• STAR Program experience is a plus
