Lead painter

Description

Alloy Wheel Repair Pro is looking for an experienced Lead Painter to join our shop team.

In this role, you will lead shop-floor refinishing operations, managing everything from surface prep to high-end OEM color matching & clear coating. If you have a sharp eye for detail, pride yourself on factory-quality finishes, and can lead quality control in a fast-paced environment, we want to talk to you!

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation: Perform scuffing, curb rash repair, sanding, and masking on alloy wheels.
Painting: Apply primers, OEM color coats, custom finishes and topcoats.
Quality Assurance: Inspect all finished wheels to ensure flawless adhesion, proper mil thickness, smooth coverage, and zero defects.
Shop Leadership: Oversee daily shop painting schedules, manage paint and keep equipment maintained (spray guns & booth ).
Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe, organized paint booth environment while following OSHA, personal protective equipment (PPE), and chemical safety protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: 2+ years of automotive refinishing, painting.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of paint mixing, spray equipment setup, color matching, and curing cycles.
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot substrate flaws, improper adhesion, or color discrepancies before wheels leave the booth.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods and regularly lift wheels weighing 30–50+ lbs.
Valid Driver’s License required.
