Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented **Automotive Painter** to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces, applying paint and protective coatings, maintaining painting equipment, and ensuring all work meets high-quality standards. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate painting equipment, brushes, spray guns, and other tools to apply paint, enamel, lacquer, and other protective or decorative coatings.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, washing, stripping, sanding, removing corrosion, filling dents, and performing other surface preparation tasks.
• Operate hand-held spray guns to paint or coat vehicle parts and stationary items.
• Paint small components and perform touch-up work using paint brushes.
• Mix and blend paints to achieve accurate color matching and quality finishes.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain painting equipment, spray booths, ventilation systems, compressed air systems, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Monitor and assist with the purchase, inventory, maintenance, and care of shop supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Assist supervisors with personnel matters and shop-related issues by providing recommendations and solutions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all health and safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Thorough knowledge of paints, lacquers, enamels, paint removers, surface preparation materials, and finishing techniques.
• Experience using spray guns and other automotive painting equipment.
• Ability to accurately mix and blend paints for color matching.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
• Physical strength and stamina to perform demanding work.
• Good color vision and attention to detail.
• Creativity and pride in producing high-quality finishes.
• Patience and precision when completing detailed work.
• Interest in learning new painting techniques, products, and materials.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and proper handling of hazardous materials.
• Basic mathematics and computer skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair information.

• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Technical training in automotive painting, collision repair, or a related field preferred.
• Completion of an automotive paint and body apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in automotive painting and body repair.

Physical Requirements

The employee will frequently be required to:

• Stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, kneel, push, pull, and climb stairs.
• Use hands for detailed work and reach below shoulder level.
• Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Operate a motor vehicle.

The employee may occasionally be required to:

• Reach above shoulder level.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Lift bulky items from floor level or at arm's length.

Specific vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Employees frequently work:

• Around hazardous machinery and equipment.

New employees are subject to a probationary period. During this period, employees are **not eligible for company benefits**, including health insurance, retirement plan or vacation, etc. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, employees will become eligible for **40 hours of paid sick leave**, along with other applicable benefits.
