Automotive Service Advisor – Former Technician
Description
Are you an experienced automotive technician who knows cars but is ready to spend less time turning wrenches?
We’re looking for someone with strong hands-on automotive knowledge to move into a Service Advisor role.
You’ll be the main connection between our technicians and customers — reviewing technician findings, building estimates, explaining repairs, getting approvals, and helping keep work moving through the shop.
This is not a high-pressure sales job. We care about accurate estimates, honest recommendations, and explaining repairs clearly so customers can make informed decisions.

- Build complete repair estimates for labor and parts
- Research labor times and identify the correct parts
- Understand diagnostic findings and ask technicians the right questions
- Explain repairs clearly to customers
- Get approvals and keep customers updated
- Communicate approved work back to the shop
- Manage multiple repair orders throughout the day
- Help keep jobs moving from diagnosis to approval to completion
Automotive knowledge is a must.
We're especially interested in:
- Experienced A- or B-Level technicians ready to get off the shop floor
- Former technicians who have moved into advising or management
- Lead technicians or foremen who are strong with customers
- Experienced service advisors with serious technical automotive knowledge
You also need to be organized, comfortable talking with customers, and able to handle several repair orders at the same time.
Pay & Schedule
- $35–$50/hr depending on experience and automotive knowledge
- Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM
- No weekends
- Weekly pay
- Stable hours and consistent workflow
- Health insurance
- Dental insurance
- Vision insurance
- Paid time off
We're a busy independent neighborhood shop in Greenpoint with a steady flow of cars.
We're continuing to tighten up our systems and workflow as we grow. We have support handling phones, scheduling, front desk operations, and parts so the Service Advisor can stay focused on customers, estimates, approvals, and keeping repair orders moving.
We believe in doing the job right. No pushing unnecessary repairs, no cutting corners, and no treating customers like transactions.
We're looking for someone with real automotive knowledge who can take ownership of this role and grow with the shop.
