Aviation Survival Technician

Description

Key Responsibilities
• Inspect, maintain, repair, and certify aviation survival and life-support equipment, including:
o Life rafts and flotation systems
o Passenger and crew flotation devices and survival vests
o Emergency oxygen systems
o Personal locator beacons
• Perform maintenance in accordance with:
o FAA regulations (14 CFR Parts 135 and 121)
o Approved Aircraft Maintenance Programs (AMPs)
o Manufacturer Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA)
• Ensure all work complies with company manuals, including:
o General Maintenance Manual (GMM)
o Repair Station Manual (RSM), if applicable
o Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements

  • Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, logbook entries, and component tracking documentation
  • Coordinate with maintenance control, quality, and flight operations to support dispatch reliability
  • Maintain accountability for tools, test equipment, calibration, and survival equipment inventory
  • Support internal audits, FAA inspections, and regulatory compliance activities
  • Provide technical support related to survival equipment to maintenance and operations personnel
  • Participate in on-call rotations, shift work, or extended hours as required by operations
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an Aviation Survival Technician or Aviation Life Support training program
  • Experience maintaining aviation survival or life-support equipment in a regulated environment
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations, maintenance documentation, and airworthiness requirements
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, and regulatory guidance
  • Strong attention to detail and safety-oriented mindset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting FAA Part 135 or Part 121 operations
  • Familiarity Excel, Word and similar maintenance tracking systems
  • Experience working within a Repair Station (14 CFR Part 145)
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in warehouse environments
  • Willingness to work weekdays, weekends, holidays,
  • Must be able to pass required background checks and comply with FAA and company security requirements
