Backhoe Operator – Sidewalk / Utility Work ($91+/hr) – Boston

We are hiring a skilled and dependable backhoe operator to run a CAT 430 for sidewalk and concrete
work throughout Boston. This is high-production work requiring efficiency, precision, and the ability to
work in tight urban environments. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and can
contribute to the crew beyond just operating.
Responsibilities:

• Remove concrete sidewalk panels using a backhoe with and without a thumb
• Load concrete panels efficiently and safely into dump trucks
• Build and Remove concrete forms
• Work in tight city streets around pedestrians, traffic, and utilities
• Assist digging crew with saw cutting operations
• Break concrete manually when needed (sledgehammer work)
• Support crew with grading, prep, and cleanup
• Assist concrete crew with finishing at the end of the day when needed
• Post and maintain no parking signs in accordance with city requirements
• Meet daily production goals and maintain efficient workflow
• Maintain awareness of DigSafe and underground utilities

Requirements:

• Valid Massachusetts Hoisting License (1C and 2A preferred)
• Proven experience operating backhoe (CAT 430 or similar)
• Experience with concrete removal and utility work
• Ability to operate with and without a hydraulic thumb
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Valid Medical Certificate (DOT physical)
• Ability to work efficiently, safely, and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and ready to work

Pay & Benefits:
$91+ per hour depending on experience and productivity
