Overview:

Barnes Construction Company is seeking an experienced Concrete Estimator to join our preconstruction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing, and assembling bid packages for commercial concrete projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare accurate cost estimates for concrete work.
• Lead the preparation and submission of proposals and bid packages for various contract types (Lump Sum, GMP, Cost Plus).
• Review design drawings, specifications, and attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to determine project scope.
• Obtain and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors; maintain a comprehensive cost database.
• Coordinate with design and field operations teams to ensure alignment on project requirements and drawing revisions.
• Analyze project schedules for sequencing risks and prepare labor-loaded schedules.
• Identify design issues and project risks, propose solutions, and participate in value engineering.
• Develop and maintain historical data for unit pricing and cost-efficient alternatives.
• Assist project managers in contract negotiations, buyouts, and change orders.
• Manage document control, including receiving and distributing drawings and specifications.
• Prepare scope requisitions, comparison analyses, and participate in post-bid reviews and procurement recommendations.
• Organize and lead project kick-off meetings and hand-off processes to operations teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.
• Stay current with industry trends, building codes, and market conditions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a concrete estimator.
• Strong technical knowledge of concrete construction, materials, and general contracting methods.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting structural drawings, technical specifications, and contracts.
• Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with industry software (Excel, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Onsite Takeoff).
• Knowledge of Colorado general contractor and subcontractor network (preferred).
