Bilingual Jewelry Maker (English + Spanish) - NO Experience Required
Bilingual Jewelry Maker (Eng + Span) - NO Experien
Description
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 30 to 40 hours a week. In person at the Tula Treehouse, West Austin.
About Us
Tula Blue makes jewelry women never have to take off. We hand-spin nautical-grade rope into waterproof, metal-free pieces finished with real pearls and stones, all made by hand in Texas by a team of women. We started at a farmers market tent, grew through word of mouth, took no outside money, and make nothing overseas. Eleven years in, we have given over $50,000 to causes we love and built a real community of women who wear their Tula from sweat to sea to sleep. This role works out of our Austin workshop, the Tula Treehouse.
The Role
Handcraft Tula Blue rope jewelry by hand, to our exact standard, and help us get beautiful orders out the door fast. You start fully focused on making. Over time, this role is built to grow into training, including becoming the person who trains our future Spanish-speaking makers.
Who We're Looking For
You are fluent in English and Spanish. You are great with your hands, careful, and you take pride in getting the details right. You are reliable, you show up, and you communicate. When something is new, you say yes and figure it out. You lift the people around you, and you want to grow. You do not need any jewelry experience. We train every maker in house.
What You'll Do (Starting Out)
You start 100% making, in the workshop, Monday through Friday, 30 to 40 hours a week.
That means:
Make every piece to exact spec. Quality is our number one priority. Loop and puka tension just right, knots just so, sliders set correctly on adjustable pieces.
Get orders out as soon as possible. Timing matters more than raw piece counts.
Care for your materials and tools, and flag low or low-quality supplies before they run out.
Show up when you say you will, and communicate early if something changes.
Ideally be present for Workshop Wednesdays, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, Noon to 6pm, to help with any custom requests/orders on the spot.
Where This Role Can Grow
This seat is built to grow. After about a year, as you master the craft, you can grow into quality checking, onboarding and training new makers (including future Spanish-speaking hires), and being a reliable floor backup to our Austin Production and Maker Lead. When that work becomes a real share of your time, your pay could move from per-piece to hourly to match it. This is a path to grow into, not guaranteed and not day-one duties.
What You Bring
Required:
Fluent in English and Spanish.
Careful, detail-focused, and great with your hands.
Reliable, communicative, and able to keep a set schedule.
Able to work in person at our West Austin workshop, Monday to Friday.
Nice to have:
Interest in growing into training and order fulfillment over time.
No jewelry experience required. We teach you everything.
What Success Looks Like
Your pieces are made to spec, with little to no rework.
You hit your production rhythm and orders go out on time.
You show up as scheduled and communicate any changes early.
Your speed and skill grow with training.
Pay & Perks
During training, pay is hourly at $10 an hour for 1st 10 hours + other 3-5-10 hour increments when you are learning a new skill. Once you are trained, pay is per piece, and most makers earn between $15 and $18 an hour based on season and skill. Some earn more, some less. If you grow into training others, your pay could move to hourly to match that work. Hours flex with the season. Employees are eligible for a 401(k) match.
