BODY WORK/PAINT TECHNICIAN

Position: Automotive Body Technician & Painter (Contract to Direct-Hire)

Location: Oakland, CA

Position Type: Contract (Full-Time Hours) with potential transition to Permanent Direct-Hire based on work quality, attendance, and discipline.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Automotive Body Technician & Painter to join our shop in Oakland on a contract basis. In this dual role, you will perform complete collision repairs—from structural, panel, and body repairs to surface preparation and top-tier paint application.

This contract position offers a clear pathway to permanent, full-time employment for a technician who demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and reliable discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Body Repair: Diagnose damage, align frames, repair or replace damaged body panels, perform rust repair, and execute dent pulling and filler application.

Prep Work: Sand, mask, prime, and block surfaces to ensure a smooth, flawless canvas for painting.

Paint Application: Mix paint accurately using color-matching systems; apply primers, basecoats, and clearcoats in a spray booth environment.

Finishing: Buff, polish, and detail completed jobs to remove imperfections and ensure factory-grade finishes.

Quality & Safety: Maintain high standards of quality control, follow California shop safety and environmental protocols, and keep work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: 3+ years of experience in collision repair and automotive refinishing/painting.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with frame machines, welding equipment, dent pullers, pneumatic tools, and spray guns.

Color Matching: Strong eye for color shade matching and blending techniques.

Discipline & Punctuality: Proven record of consistent attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to meet repair deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Tools: Must own a basic set of hand tools and body repair equipment (shop provides specialized equipment).
