Bridal Seamstress / Alterations Tailor – Wedding Gowns, San Francisco

About the Role
jinwang bride, a luxury bridal boutique, is seeking a skilled seamstress to join our alterations team. In this role, you will perform alterations on wedding gowns from start to finish, delivering the exceptional craftsmanship our brides expect. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced bridal seamstress who takes pride in precise, beautiful work. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience altering wedding dresses.

Responsibilities

• Perform alterations on wedding gowns from start to finish
• Hem wedding gowns with multiple layers, including lace, tulle, and horsehair hems, and execute

specialized techniques such as baby hems and French seams

• Work with delicate fabrics, including lace, tulle, silk, and beading
• Complete detailed hand sewing with impeccable precision
• Operate sewing machines, sergers, and other tools efficiently and accurately
• Take accurate measurements and make adjustments to ensure a proper fit
• Press and steam garments to a finished standard
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace
• Collaborate with the team to meet production goals and deadlines

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience altering wedding dresses
• Proficiency with sewing machines, sergers, and hand sewing tools
• Strong knowledge of garment construction
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
• Clear communication and a warm, client-focused approach
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Position Details

• Part time, 16 to 24 hours per week
• $23 to $30 per hour, depending on experience
• A sewing test is required as part of the hiring process
