CA Journeyman Electrician — $55-$60/hr + Full Benefits (San Diego)

Potential Electrical Design Services Inc. is hiring a licensed Journeyman Electrician for EV charging, BESS, and utility infrastructure projects across San Diego and SoCal. Open shop, 12 years in business, 100+ EV charging sites delivered.

PAY & PACKAGE

• Base wage: $55-$60/hr depending on experience and credentials
• Total package: ~$72/hr (base wage plus employer-paid benefits)
• Health insurance: $0 cost to you — company-paid family coverage (employee + spouse + up to 2 dependents), zero deduction, starts 30 days after hire
• Prevailing wage public works projects pay the DIR rate (base + fringes), which is above our shop rate — we handle certified payroll in-house

ANNUAL EARNINGS (at top of base wage range)

• 40 hrs/week, no OT: $124,800 cash / $150,447 total package
• +5 hrs/week OT: $148,200 cash / $173,847 total package
• +10 hrs/week OT: $171,600 cash / $197,247 total package (Overtime varies by project and is not guaranteed. CA double-time rules apply after 12 hrs/day and on the 7th consecutive day.)

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Install underground conduits, grounding systems, and conduit racking
• Build and install prefabricated conduit assemblies (we have an in-house prefab division)
• Wire and terminate EV chargers, BESS, and utility electrical equipment
• Rig, set, and install switchgear, transformers, DCFC cabinets, and BESS enclosures
• Pull and terminate #8 through 500 MCM Cu & Al wire
• Read blueprints; complete redlines and as-built documentation
• Complete JSAs, daily field reports, and project closeout paperwork
• Work on prevailing wage public works projects (certified payroll, DIR compliance)
• Mentor apprentices on-site and coordinate with the PM to keep jobs on track

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (required — credentials verified)

• Current, unexpired California General Electrician certification (DIR Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, Electrician Certification Unit)
• Valid CA driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and comply with our Drug and Alcohol Policy (we are a safety-sensitive employer working with federal clients)
• Blueprint and electrical drawing experience
• Conduit installation experience: EMT, Rigid, and underground

STRONG CANDIDATES ALSO HAVE

• EVITP certification
• BESS or utility-scale electrical experience
• Ability to run a job site independently
• Prior prevailing wage / public works experience
• Experience with mobile field apps and digital blueprints (Buildertrend, Procore, Bluebeam)

SCHEDULE & TRAVEL

Monday-Friday, typically 10 hrs OT/week (varies by project), occasional Saturdays for prevailing wage closeouts. Most work is in San Diego County, with jobsites ranging across Southern California (ability to travel and stay out of town is essential). Out-of-area assignments include company-paid lodging and per diem.
