Description
A carpenter builds, installs, and repairs building frameworks, structures, and fixtures made from wood and other materials.
Key duties include reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, and operating specialized tools.
Key Responsibilities
Planning: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to plan project layouts.
Construction: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, drywall, and other raw materials for framing, walls, and floors.
Installation: Fit and install doors, windows, flooring, cabinets, and decorative trim.
Repair: Inspect damaged frameworks or structures and replace rotting or broken components.
Safety: Follow local building codes and maintain a safe, clean work site using proper protective gear.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: A completed apprenticeship or proven professional carpentry experience.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with hand and power tools (saws, drills, sanders) and accurate measuring instruments.
Physical Ability: Stamina and strength to stand for long hours, climb ladders, and lift heavy objects up to 50–100 pounds.
Math & Detail: Excellent mathematical skills to calculate dimensions, angles, and material quantities precisely.
Logistics: Must possess RELIABLE personal transportation and a valid driver's license to travel between variable job sites with tools.
