Carpenter / Crew Lead & Trainer
Lead Installer/ Trainer
Description
Carpenters: if you're the guy on the crew who ends up showing everyone else how to do it right, this ad is for you.
Crown Hill Gutter Company in Porter, Maine is a growing seamless-gutter contractor serving southern Maine and the Conway, NH area. We don't need another pair of hands. We need a leader who can learn our product fast, run jobs to our standard, and then train the next two crews so the company can grow. The person who takes this role sets the standard every future hire learns from.
If you know carpentry, you'll pick up gutters in a few weeks. Measuring, layout, pitch, fastening, working off ladders, finish that looks right from the ground. What we can't teach quickly is the part you already have: the patience to show someone a task three times, the judgment to make calls on site, and the drive to see a company get bigger because of you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Two weeks training with the owner, then run installs to our standard.
Lead jobs on site with a partner. You make the calls on sequence, quality, and talking with the homeowner.
Train new installers as we add them. Build crew two, then crew three.
Own the shop side: truck and inventory organized, materials on hand before the crew needs them, sold jobs reviewed ahead of time.
Work directly with the owner on scheduling and on how the company grows.
THE UPSIDE
$32/hr to start, W-2, weekly pay, time-and-a-half over 40.
Production bonus up to $1,000/month tied to work your crew completes to standard.
Raises tied to milestones: when the first crew runs on its own without you, your pay goes up. When the second one does, it goes up again.
As the install side grows, you run it. This is a five-year seat, not a season.
Year-round, 11-month position. Paid holidays. Two weeks PTO the first year, three the second.
THE WORK
Physical. Ladders most of the day, routinely two stories, hanging 30 and 40 foot runs with a partner, all weather short of heavy rain. It's also clean work: no tear-off, no tar, no mud. The product comes off the machine finished and most days you go home the same way.
WHO FITS
3+ years carpentry, framing, siding, roofing, or similar exterior trade.
You've run a job or trained a helper and liked it.
Comfortable at two and three stories, can lift 50 lbs.
Valid license, reliable transportation to Porter each morning.
HOW TO APPLY
Email mason@raingutter.company. Put your town in the subject line. In the email, tell us about one time you taught somebody a skill on a job site and how it went. The owner reads every reply. Process is a phone call, a visit to the shop, and a paid working day on a real job so both sides know it's a fit.
