CARPENTRY FOREMAN

We are hiring an experienced Commercial Carpentry Foreman to lead crews on active projects throughout NYC, Westchester County, and Long Island.

Compensation: $40+/hour — based on experience, skill level, and ability to run work

THE POSITION

We are looking for a hands-on, experienced Foreman who knows commercial carpentry and can take responsibility for a job from layout through completion.

Our projects include affordable housing, apartment buildings, hotels, high-end residential, retail, and commercial construction.

This position requires more than being a skilled carpenter. You must be able to lead manpower, read plans, perform layout, coordinate with other trades, maintain production, identify problems before they become delays, and deliver quality work on schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Crew & Production Management

Direct carpentry crews and assign daily manpower

Establish daily and weekly production goals
Track progress against the project schedule
Keep crews productive and materials organized
Communicate manpower, material, and scheduling needs to management

Layout & Blueprint Reading

Perform and supervise complete metal stud layout

Read and interpret architectural, structural, reflected ceiling, and MEP drawings
Verify dimensions, elevations, openings, wall types, and field conditions
Identify drawing conflicts and coordinate solutions before installation
Ensure walls, ceilings, doors, and openings are properly located, square, level, and plumb

Carpentry Expertise

Strong experience required in:

Heavy and light gauge metal framing

Drywall assemblies
Wood framing and blocking
ACT / acoustical ceilings
Doors, frames, and hardware
Commercial interior construction

Coordination

Coordinate field conditions with supers, project management, and other trades
Work around plumbing, electrical, HVAC, sprinkler, and other MEP installations
Identify potential conflicts before they impact production
Attend job-site meetings when required

Quality Control

Inspect work throughout installation — not just at completion

Maintain high standards for framing, blocking, ceilings, doors, and finishes
Correct problems before they become punch-list items
Take ownership of the crew's workmanship

Safety & Documentation

Enforce company and OSHA safety requirements

Maintain a clean and professional job site
Complete daily reports, manpower counts, progress photos, and field documentation using a smartphone or tablet

QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of commercial carpentry/drywall experience preferred
Proven experience as a Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or equivalent field supervisor
Strong commercial metal framing experience
Expert blueprint reading and layout skills
Experience running crews on multi-unit residential, hospitality, or other high-volume commercial projects
Ability to plan manpower and maintain production schedules
Strong communication and leadership skills
Comfortable using a smartphone/tablet for plans, photos, reports, and communication
Reliable transportation for projects outside NYC when required
Valid NYC SST Supervisor Card required for applicable NYC job sites
IMPORTANT

This is a working Foreman position.

You must be willing and able to put your tool belt on, perform layout, demonstrate the work, and work alongside the crew when necessary.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the job — production, quality, manpower, safety, and getting the work completed correctly and on schedule.

This is NOT an entry-level supervisory position.
