Studio Assistant — Npage Studio
Npage Studio is a ceramics atelier producing lighting for our studio collection and collaborative work for our sister companies, Lostine and RTO Lighting. Our pieces are made using traditional hand building and slip casting techniques.
We're looking for a motivated, flexible ceramicist who thrives working independently and as part of a production team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in hand building, with additional exposure to slip casting and spray finishing a strong plus. Above all, we need someone trainable, detail-oriented, and ready to take ownership of their work.
We have a beautiful studio in East Falls, Philadelphia. This position is an opportunty to be a part of an enthusiastic and growing production team that loves the ceramic arts.

What You'll Do

Hand build, cast, and finish ceramic pieces to spec

Load and maintain kilns; mix and apply glazes
Reclaim clay and manage material flow
Keep orders moving on schedule and track inventory/supplies
Clean and prep ware between production stages
Maintain the studio's equipment, tools, and workspaces (kilns, casting and glaze areas) so everything runs safely and efficiently
Flag equipment or supply needs before they become problems
Jump in on special projects as they come up
Collaborate with the design team to refine production processes

What You Bring

Hands-on hand building experience (required); production/studio experience a strong plus
Comfort following written and verbal instructions with close attention to detail
Ability to stay focused and consistent through repetitive, quality-driven tasks
Strong organizational and time-management habits
A positive, professional, problem-solving attitude
Willingness to learn new techniques and take direction
Ability to work well both independently and in a small team

Nice to Have

Knowledge of clay body and glaze formulation

Familiarity with best practices for art/design production, including safe chemical handling
Experience maintaining ceramics equipment and kilns
Awareness of current trends in ceramic art and design
Google Suite, Photoshop, or Illustrator skills

Physical Requirements

Able to stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
Able to lift 50+ lbs
