Church Pianist/Organist

If you are passionate about music and want to use your talents in a church setting, this may be the opportunity you are looking for. Our historic church has an engaged pastor and congregation, welcomes all people, is growing more each year, and needs a part-time Pianist/Organist to join the team. Our current music program includes lively chancel and bell choirs, each boasting 10-12 members, and a long history of featuring local musicians as guests in worship. Our talented Accompanist Brian Uerling is moving at the end of the year and looks forward to handing the program off to someone who can continue his work of joyful and collaborative worship leadership.

Your responsibilities will be to:

• Provide organ and/or piano accompaniment for weekly Sunday worship and any special worship services
• As available, accompany funeral and other special services
• Accompany chancel choir rehearsals and any other rehearsals, in co-ordination with the Music Director
• Communicate collaboratively with Pastor, Music Director, musicians, and church office regarding music, scheduling matters, etc.
• In case of absence, work with Pastor and Music Director to find a substitute
• At pianist/organist discretion, may play for weddings for separate fee

Even though this is a part-time position requiring about 5 hours per week, we offer 2 weeks paid vacation and paid sick/personal time, per NM state law. Salary to be determined based on experience and musical skills.
