Civil Journeyman

The Logical Choice wants you to join our dynamic team as a Civil Journeyman and play a vital role in supporting infrastructure projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors on construction sites, utilizing your technical skills and mechanical knowledge to ensure the successful completion of critical projects. As a Civil Journeyman, you will be responsible for performing duties in one or more civil specialties, including Carpentry, Concrete, Rebar and Equipment Operation., adhering to safety standards, and collaborating with team members to deliver high-quality results that support essential energy infrastructure. Per diem pay is available.

Duties

• Studies blueprints, sketches or engineering prints for information pertaining to type of material required and dimensions of structure or fixtures to be fabricated and/or installed.
• Assists in the selection of specified materials.
• Prepares site and material for layout and installation.
• Shapes and modifies materials to designated measurements, using hand and power tools.
• Verifies slabs, structures and installed materials are square, plumb, level and in proper position using various manual and electronic tools and methods.
• May mix cement, using hoe or machine and construct forms and chutes for pouring.
• Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, pipe locators, and power tools to assist in construction and maintenance activities.
• Cleans work area, materials and tools and inspects for wear and damage before and after use.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

• High school diploma preferred. Completion of apprenticeship program required
• Meet standard job requirements.
• Must be able to pass security clearance
• Perform a variety of duties.
• Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.
• Work within precise standards of accuracy.
• Compare and see differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects.
• Look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects.
• Follow oral and written directions, plans and blueprints.
• Perform repetitive duties with hand tools for extended periods of time.
• Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.

Working Environment:
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and in all types of weather and temperature conditions.

Physical Demands:

• Manual dexterity, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Frequent climbing stairs/ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching and crouching.
• Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding or high structures.
• Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.
• Hearing capacity to receive, perceive and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli.
