Class A CDL Driver

Overview: This position safely, and efficiently, operates company heavy trucking for the transportation of equipment and materials to, and from, jobsites.
Responsibilities:

• Must have, and maintain, a valid Commercial Driver’s License, to include appropriate endorsements as they pertain to the towing of equipment, the operation of the Company’s water truck, and the operation of the Company’s distributer. Should one’s license become invalid, or temporarily suspended, the Company must be made aware immediately.
• Must abide by all federal, state, and local laws when operating Company vehicles.
• Must be subject to DOT required random drug and alcohol testing.
• Must properly secure loads, clean tailgates, and clean beds to minimize damage to other vehicle, or cross contamination of materials.
• Class “A” CDL drivers are expected to know how to safely, and legally, secure equipment to trailers, and have the ability to learn the basic operation of various pieces of construction equipment for loading/ unloading purposes.
• Must have ability to back trucks to equipment, or as applicable, trailers around job sites. Drivers associated with paving operations must learn how to “sit” in the asphalt paver without material spillage.
• Must have basic vehicle maintenance skills and be able to competently conduct daily vehicle inspections.
• Check all load-related documentation (including bills of lading) for completeness and accuracy
• Maintain logs of working hours following applicable state and federal regulations
• Ability to follow simple written or GPS directions
• Drivers are expected to assist with manual labor tasks when required.
• Communicate with coworkers and supervisors about job tasks and concerns
• Other tasks as assigned

Education: GED or High School diploma preferred
Experience: 6 months previous experience preferred
Certifications and Licenses: CDL A Driver’s license required

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs consistently through the day
Must be able to push pull and carry
Must be able to use hands to manipulate tools and materials
Must be able to reach with arms
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to kneel, bend, and twist
Must be able to see and hear
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Must be able to complete physical labor when not driving.
