Class C Driver / Shop Laborer

Small, established steel fabrication company is seeking a dependable Class C Driver / Shop Laborer. This is a hands-on position combining local delivery driving with general labor and material-handling duties in our steel fabrication shop.
The majority of deliveries are within the Denver metro area. When delivery work is not available, the employee will work in the shop as a general laborer and is expected to remain productive throughout the scheduled workday.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Driving & Delivery

• Safely operate company delivery vehicles and maintain a clean driving record.
• Deliver fabricated steel, materials, tools, and equipment to construction jobsites and customers.
• Load, unload, inspect, and properly secure steel using chains, straps, binders, and other equipment.
• Complete deliveries accurately and on schedule.
• Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and jobsite personnel.
• Perform pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety issues.

Shop Labor

• Assist welders and fabricators with material handling and preparation.
• Load and unload steel, plate, tubing, pipe, and other materials.
• Move and stage materials and finished products throughout the shop.
• Assist with preparing materials for fabrication, painting, shipping, and delivery.
• Assist with loading trucks and preparing deliveries.
• Perform general shop cleanup, housekeeping, and organization.
• Assist with basic grinding, painting, and other shop tasks as trained.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes when trained and authorized.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the shop.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

• Valid Colorado Class C driver's license, previous delivery experience preferred
• Acceptable driving record and ability to pass random drug testing
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to safely operate a delivery truck and secure loads
• Ability to perform physically demanding labor and handle steel and other materials
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to working and driving safely

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, reach, and lift/carry materials up to 75 lbs. Must be comfortable working around steel, heavy materials, trucks, cranes, forklifts, welding equipment, and other industrial equipment.
