Commercial Construction Superintendent – Fitness/Gym Projects
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent with a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably with direct experience in the gym/fitness industry, health clubs, or similar commercial construction projects.
The ideal candidate must be capable of managing projects from start to completion, coordinating subcontractors, communicating professionally with clients and design teams, and ensuring that projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial construction superintendent experience.
- Experience with gym, fitness center, health club, or similar commercial projects is strongly preferred.
- Understand proper construction sequencing and coordinate trades accordingly.
- Create, maintain, and follow project schedules.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, and manpower.
- Communicate professionally through email, phone, and meetings with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project managers.
- Schedule and coordinate required city inspections.
- Work directly with city and building department inspectors.
- Visit city building departments when necessary to resolve permit, inspection, plan, or construction-related issues.
- Review and understand construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Identify field conflicts and coordinate solutions with architects, engineers, and project management.
- Maintain jobsite safety, cleanliness, organization, and quality control.
- Prepare daily reports and provide regular project progress updates.
- Coordinate punch-list items and ensure projects are completed properly and on time.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial superintendent experience.
- Gym/fitness construction experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods and sequencing.
- Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, MEP, and construction drawings.
- Experience dealing with inspectors and local building departments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable writing professional emails and communicating directly with clients, architects, and engineers.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and maintain project deadlines.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required.
