Commercial Fitness Equipment Technician / Subcontractor (1099)

Motor City Equipment Care LLC provides commercial fitness equipment preventative maintenance and technical servicing across Metro Detroit.

We are seeking an experienced, independent Commercial Fitness Equipment Field Technician / Subcontractor (1099) to execute routine preventative maintenance (PM) visits and field diagnostics on a flexible, project-by-project basis.

PAY & WORK STRUCTURE:

• Flat-Rate PM Payouts: $120.00 – $250.00 per facility visit (based on equipment count).
• Diagnostic & Repairs: $35.00 – $50.00 per billable hour.
• Flexible, per-call dispatching (5–15 hours/week ideal for supplemental revenue).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform PM checklists on commercial cardio (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes) and strength equipment (cable stacks, racks, functional trainers).
• Clean, grease, lubricate, inspect, and adjust tension on drive belts, decks, cables, and pulleys to OEM specs.
• Perform electrical and mechanical diagnostics using multimeters and basic hand tools.
• Tag out unsafe equipment immediately and log digital reports with photos and serial numbers via smartphone app within 12 hours.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 1+ years of technical experience servicing commercial fitness equipment OR equivalent electro-mechanical / field service background (HVAC, small engine, automotive/diesel mechanic).
• Must operate as a 1099 Subcontractor with your own reliable vehicle, standard hand tools, socket/hex sets, and digital multimeter.
• Must hold or be willing to obtain General Liability Insurance ($1M/$2M) prior to field assignments.

• Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working on site at commercial facilities.
