Description
A concrete finisher is responsible for leveling, smoothing, and finishing poured concrete surfaces to meet quality standards using hand and power tools.
Job Responsibilities
Concrete finishers work on floors, slabs, walls, curbs, sidewalks, loading docks, and elevated slabs.
Key duties include:
Spreading and leveling concrete to a specified depth and consistency using floats, trowels, straight edges, and power screeds
Smoothing and finishing surfaces with hand tools or power trowels, including rub and patch work to meet quality standards
Setting up and securing forms for concrete placement and ensuring proper alignment
Operating equipment such as concrete vibrators, saws, jackhammers, and pavement grinders
Loading, transporting, and maintaining tools and equipment
Observing safety protocols and performing minor maintenance and cleaning tasks
Interpreting blueprints and project specifications to ensure accurate execution
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience: Typically 3–5 years in concrete finishing or related construction work; commercial construction experience is preferred
Physical ability: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including frequent kneeling, lifting up to 75 lbs, and handling heavy equipment
Technical skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools, understanding of concrete mixes, and ability to perform basic math and measurements
Other qualifications:
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, attention to detail, and strong work ethic
