About us

ELM Builders is a locally owned and operated Maui general contractor (Lic. BC-38996). We build custom homes, two-story homes and new structures on existing lots, and we do residential remodels. Our clients hire us for integrity, quality materials and finish work with real attention to detail. We're growing, and we need an estimator who takes pride in getting the numbers right.

The role

You'll take projects from first scope to a finished estimate in Buildertrend, ready for our Chief of Staff to review. You'll work closely with the owner and the office team.

What you'll do

• Get the project scope from a site visit or from the scope list after a client meeting
• Sort the scope into ELM tasks and subcontractor tasks
• Review project plans, decide when drafting is needed, and price drafting services
• Request subcontractor quotes through Buildertrend
• Calculate ELM labor hours for in-house work
• Get materials quotes from vendors and keep quote files organized
• Open presales and build full estimates in Buildertrend: sub quotes, materials, ELM labor, preconstruction costs and contingency
• Hand off clean, complete estimates for review and make revisions

What we're looking for

• Must live in Hawaii (any island)
• [_Varies_]+ years of estimating experience in residential construction or remodeling
• Strong understanding of construction methods, trades and material costs
• Able to read plans and build a scope from them
• Organized, detail-oriented, and good at following up with subs and vendors
• Comfortable with estimating software. Buildertrend experience is a plus.
• Clear communicator who meets deadlines
