Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Construction Laborer / Helper to join our dynamic team. This role supports daily operations both on job sites and behind the scenes, helping keep projects running efficiently. The Construction Assistant will assist with site work, drive the company box truck, handle material runs, and maintain organization of tools, equipment, and the shop. You will work closely with project managers, craftsmen, and subcontractors—both supporting them on job sites and assisting with hands-on work—to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Preparation: Assist in the setup and cleanup of job sites, ensuring all tools, equipment, and materials are organized and ready for use.
Material Handling: Load, unload, transport, and stage materials and tools. Perform material runs and maintain familiarity with local supply stores.
Box Truck Operations: Safely drive and maintain the company box truck. Ensure it is stocked, clean, and organized for daily use.
Shop Organization: Keep the shop clean, organized, and fully stocked. Track inventory of materials, tools, and equipment.
Tool Operation: Operate basic construction tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
Assisting Craftsmen: Work alongside craftsmen on job sites, helping with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and general tasks by providing tools, materials, and hands-on support as needed.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
Administrative Support: Assist with inventory tracking, job documentation, and daily logs as needed.
Communication: Maintain clear communication with team members to coordinate job site needs and daily tasks.
Problem Solving: Help identify and resolve minor job site or logistical issues.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certification is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred.
Skills:
Basic knowledge of construction processes and techniques.
Ability to operate box truck, construction tools and equipment safely.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Good physical condition and the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
