Custom Box Maker
Description
Established Santa Fe business specializing in fine art packing and shipping is looking for a box maker for a hands-on position in our shop.
We build custom shipping boxes and protective packaging for artwork, antiques, sculpture, ceramics, and other valuable and fragile objects. This is a skilled, physical job for someone who enjoys building things and working with their hands.
The work includes:
Measuring artwork and objects precisely
Building custom corrugated shipping boxes
Cutting, scoring, folding, and assembling heavy-duty cardboard
Measuring and cutting foam
Using hand tools
Moving and handling artwork and other objects carefully
Loading and unloading shipments
General shop organization and maintenance
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience in carpentry, woodworking, fabrication, construction, cabinetry, packaging, or a similar trade
Is excellent at measuring and working with dimensions
Has good basic math skills
Can visualize how something needs to be built
Takes pride in accurate, clean workmanship
Is dependable
Can work independently
Is physically capable of lifting and moving heavy or awkward objects
Understands that valuable artwork must be handled with great care
We are willing to train the right person in our specific materials and methods.
This is not an office or retail position. You will be on your feet, measuring, cutting, building, lifting, and solving problems throughout the day.
Monday–Friday | Generally 10 AM–5 PM
