Custom earplug lab technician

We’re hiring a custom earplug lab technician in Greenpoint, Brooklyn to help make custom-fit silicone earplugs!

Crystal Guardian is a Brooklyn-based custom earplug lab and hearing conservation advocate focused on making high-quality earplugs accessible to musicians, DJs, club/concert-goers and nightlife workers.

Looking for someone who:

• has expertise and high skill level doing precise, small-scale technical work with their hands
• has a background in sculpting, fabrication, jewelry-making, mold-making, prosthetics or similar fields
• is comfortable and intuitive learning new tools, materials and processes
• has experience with 3D resin printing and 3D CAD software (a plus but not required)
• is tech/computer-savvy
• is organized and able to oversee inventory
• isn’t afraid of glitter
• has an interest in hearing health

Tasks include working with silicone ear impressions, wax sculpting, 3D modeling, 3D resin printing, mixing/injecting silicone into molds, polishing with a micromotor drill, lacquering and packing earplugs. Will be working with myself and another lab tech.

Looking for 3-4 days/week to start with a strong possibility of converting to full-time. Lab hours are 9a-5p Monday-Friday. $24-28/hr to start based on experience, which will increase with training.
