Position Summary

The Level 2 Data Center Technician independently supports equipment receiving, ECU flashing, rack installation, cabling, testing and quality control in a high-volume data center environment. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on rack-and-stack experience who can follow structured processes, identify and troubleshoot basic issues, maintain accurate documentation and assist Level 1 technicians as needed.

Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, inventory and accurately document large quantities of boards, chassis and related equipment
Identify, document and escalate damaged, missing or incorrect equipment
Follow electrostatic discharge handling procedures and established data center safety standards
Complete ECU flashing according to approved instructions and production schedules
Monitor flashing status, interpret pass or fail results and perform basic troubleshooting on failed equipment
Validate completed work and maintain accurate flashing and equipment records
Install 2U equipment using rails, cage nuts and cable management arms
Connect and verify RJ45, power and related cables
Follow cable color codes, labeling requirements and cable-dressing standards
Perform visual quality checks on rack installation, labeling, cabling and equipment placement
Troubleshoot basic hardware, connectivity and installation issues before escalating
Communicate equipment discrepancies, recurring failures and workflow issues to the lead
Assist with training and providing task guidance to Level 1 technicians
Maintain an organized, safe and efficient work area

Qualifications

Previous data center, hardware deployment or rack-and-stack experience
Ability to independently install rack-mounted equipment and complete basic cabling
Familiarity with ECU flashing, firmware updates or similar technical processes preferred
Basic troubleshooting skills involving hardware, power and network connectivity
Understanding of electrostatic discharge procedures and equipment-handling standards
Strong attention to detail, documentation and organizational skills
Ability to follow technical instructions, checklists and repetitive processes consistently
Ability to identify quality issues and determine when escalation is required
Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment
Strong communication skills and willingness to support less-experienced technicians
