Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic – Flatbed Fleet
Description
We're growing, and we need an experienced diesel mechanic to keep our tractors and trailers safe, DOT-ready, and on the road. Steady Diesel Mechanics is based in Springtown, Texas.
This is a hands-on fleet shop, not a dealership assembly line. You'll work directly with the owner and see the same trucks week after week.
WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON
- Class 8 tractors: [makes/models – e.g., International LT, Freightliner Cascadia]
- Flatbed and step-deck trailers
- Preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers: oil and filters, greasing, brakes, tires, lights
- Diagnosing and repairing engine, aftertreatment/DEF, electrical, air brake, suspension, and HVAC problems
- Trailer repair: air systems, brakes, wiring and lights, winches, decking, and securement hardware
- Pulling fault codes with diagnostic software
- Keeping clean repair records and tracking parts
- Occasional road calls to service our trucks
- [3]+ years hands-on experience with heavy-duty diesel trucks (fleet, dealership, or independent shop)
- Strong on air brakes, electrical diagnostics, and aftertreatment systems
- Comfortable with laptop-based diagnostic tools
- Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus but not required
- ASE or manufacturer training is a plus, but real-world experience matters more to us
- Reliable, self-directed, and straight with us about what you know and don't know
- Full-time, [Monday–Saturday, day shift, occasional Sunday when the fleet needs it]
- Pay based on experience
