Director of Quality Control & Qualifying Party (B, B-3, KB-1, or KB-2)
Director of Quality Control & Qualifying Party
Description
About Tid Bits Construction
At Tid Bits Construction, we are scaling residential remodeling and selective commercial projects across the Phoenix metro area. We handle 100% of sales, marketing, customer management, project scheduling, trade sourcing, and daily administrative operations. As we grow, we are seeking an experienced, licensed builder to lead our technical compliance, code quality assurance, and municipal sign-offs.
Job Summary
As the Director of Quality Control & Qualifying Party (QP), you will oversee technical building code compliance, municipal permit submissions, and trade execution quality across our Maricopa County job sites. This is a flexible, part-time W-2 position designed for a seasoned contractor who wants steady supplemental income without managing daily job-site chaos, chasing sales, or running administrative operations.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifying Party: Serve as the company's official Qualifying Party (QP) with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ ROC).
Permitting & Code Review: Review architectural plans, CAD drawings, and trade scopes prior to municipal submission; sign and submit city permit applications as needed.
Quality Assurance Site Walks: Conduct periodic site walks (scheduled with 48 hours advance notice; typically 1 to 3 hours per visit) to inspect framing, mechanical/electrical/plumbing rough-ins, and finish trade execution.
Subcontractor Sign-Offs: Review and approve internal trade completion logs prior to major subcontractor payments.
Required Qualifications
AZ ROC License: Must hold an active, clean B, B-3, KB-1, or KB-2 license in good standing with zero open complaints or disciplinary actions.
License Availability & Exclusivity: Prefer applicants whose license is not currently associated with any other active contracting entity.
Note on Dual-QP: Candidates currently serving as QP for one active company who wish to take on Tid Bits Construction as a second entity will be considered under distinct terms to be discussed during the interview process.
Technical Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of City of Phoenix and Maricopa County building codes and permitting workflows.
Local Presence: Ability to conduct occasional site visits in the Phoenix metro area with 48 hours advance notice.
Employment Structure: Comfortable with a part-time, W-2 payroll arrangement.
Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of general contracting experience in residential remodeling or general commercial construction.
Prior experience serving as a Qualifying Party for a licensed Arizona contracting entity.
Compensation & Schedule
Base Salary: $1,250 / month (Guaranteed W-2 base pay for license association and remote compliance reviews).
Hourly Field Pay: $60.00 / hour for active site visits (typically 1 to 3 hours per visit) and extended plan reviews.
Mileage Reimbursement: Standard IRS rate for travel to and from job sites.
Hours: Flexible, part-time commitment (estimated 2 to 8 hours per week).
Zero Out-of-Pocket Expense: Tid Bits Construction pays 100% of state ROC application/association fees, contractor surety bonds, and general liability insurance.
How to Apply
Please submit your Resume along with your AZ ROC License Number and current licensing status (whether your license is currently active on another entity) for consideration.
