Description

Bear Electric is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our growing preconstruction team. A diversified electrical contractor serving commercial, residential and industrial customers in the Portland/ Salem and Willamette Valley Region, for over 45 years, our friendly and committed team of employees work hard to live up to our motto and provide “Excellence in Service & Performance.” Team members receive a competitive base salary ($90 K to $110K based upon experience), fully equipped company vehicle, fuel card, corporate smartphone for business use, medical and dental coverage (including full family coverage), life insurance, Medical 125 option, 401(K), PTO, Vacation and Holiday pay. Normal work schedule M-F, 7 am to 4:00 pm.

An Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial projects throughout the Portland Metro and Greater Willamette Valley. Utilizing industry-standard software to perform takeoffs, evaluate vendor quotes, and collaborate closely with project management teams to secure profitable project wins.

Core Responsibilities

  • Accurate Takeoffs: Conduct detailed, comprehensive material and labor takeoffs from electrical blueprints, specifications, and schematic designs across diverse project types.
  • Software Utilization: Leverage ConEst, Bluebeam, and Excel to build precise, scalable, and organized estimate frameworks.
  • Vendor Coordination: Solicit, review, and negotiate quotes from suppliers and specialized subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
  • Risk Analysis: Identify potential project risks, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities to optimize bid competitiveness and project margins.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, and post-award handover meetings with Project Managers and Field Superintendents.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience: 3+ years of dedicated electrical estimating experience, with a proven track record handling residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
  • Software Mastery: Proficient, hands-on experience using ConEst for estimating, Bluebeam for digital takeoffs, and advanced Excel functions for data analysis.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and regional Pacific Northwest construction standards for both residential builds and commercial infrastructure.
  • Driving Record: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.
