Duties

Develop comprehensive electrical cost estimates by reviewing project plans, specifications, and technical drawings using tools like Bluebeam software.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope, requirements, and constraints.

Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and analyze material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor bids to ensure accurate pricing.

Utilize knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards to assess code compliance and safety considerations in estimates.

Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.

Prepare detailed bid proposals, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and schedule considerations.

Support project management teams with cost control strategies throughout the construction process to maximize efficiency and profitability.

Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, contracts, and correspondence for transparency and future reference.
Qualifications

Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on electrical systems; familiarity with construction site operations is highly valued.

Strong proficiency in construction estimating software such as McCormick; experience with Bluebeam for document review is preferred.

In-depth knowledge of NEC standards, electrical codes, contracts, and project management principles within the construction industry.
Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to analyze costs critically and identify opportunities for savings without compromising quality or safety.

Solid understanding of construction management processes including scheduling, cost control, and contract administration.

Demonstrated electrical experience or background working on large-scale electrical or construction projects is essential.

Effective communication skills to coordinate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams seamlessly.

Qualifications/Skills Required

Candidate must have at least 1 year of estimating experience.

Excellent quantitative and analytical skills are mandatory.

Possess understanding of the electrical industry.

Candidate must have entrepreneurial approach to problem solving and the ability to handle a variety of tasks.

Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Motivated, detail oriented and will not accept second best.

Possess strong interpersonal skills in order to work in a diverse, dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Candidate must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes.

Possess computer knowledge that includes MS Office, Bluebeam, and McCormick's with the ability to learn new software quickly.

Prepare and review shop drawings.

Review files according to policies and procedures.

Review contract drawings and address RFIs.

Project buyout and obtain quotes in a timely manner, including control takeoff of quotable items.

Price and settle change orders accurately.

Distribute and maintain current drawings, specifications, and product data with changes and clarifications.

Adhere and enforce company policies and procedures.

Maintain personal project log.

Adhere to the contract documents.
