Electrical Foreman, Helper, & Mechanic

Townsend Electric Inc. is a family-owned commercial, industrial, and residential electrical company located in Longwood that serves clients throughout Central Florida. We are currently hiring full-time Foremen, Mechanics, and Helpers who are ready and motivated to work.

ELECTRICAL HELPER

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain satisfactory attendance and a record of punctual jobsite arrival
• Demonstrate the ability to operate hand and power tools associated with electrical work
• Demonstrate good communication skills with TEI employees, subcontractors, and clients
• Attend safety meetings, codebook educational classes, and company meetings
• Organize materials and maintain a clean jobsite work area
• Clean and stock the company truck while the foreman is at the shop, including assisting with cleaning and organizing the shop area
• Dress, act, and perform as a professional
• Complete OJT (on-the-job training) sheets daily and submit them to the Superintendent at the end of each month

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• No experience required (We provide on-the-job training and pay for electrical school.)
• Interest in working toward obtaining an electrical journeyman’s license

ELECTRICAL MECHANIC

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with establishing material lists and receiving materials
• Install boxes, conduit, MC cable, supports, plates, and covers
• Perform basic installation of electrical wiring, receptacles, light fixtures, switches, and device terminations
• Assist with the basic installation of transformers, panels, feeders, motors, VFD units, starters, and relays
• Understand basic power, lighting, and control circuitry
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of approved electrical submittals
• Perform electronic research on basic electrical equipment and other items associated with electrical design and installation
• Read, interpret, and apply fundamental National Electrical Code requirements
• Follow workplace safety standards and procedures, including LOTO
• Demonstrate the proper use and cleaning of tools, including smart benders, core drills, KO sets, pin guns, etc.
• Have experience in the field management of small and large electrical projects
• Understand structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical designs
• Thoroughly understand proposals, qualifications, exclusions, and value-engineering items
• Evaluate the scope of work involving subcontractors and vendors
• Read and understand lighting, gear, and subcontractor submittals
• Draft and assemble requests for information (RFIs)
• Schedule manpower and order materials
• Provide and enforce proper safety procedures for jobsite electricians
• Have experience ordering and operating rental tools and equipment
• Complete all electrical phases of the construction project
• Maintain a positive attitude and work professionally with other trades
• Dress, act, and perform as a professional

• Must be a motivated team player with a positive attitude
• Two to three years of experience
• High school diploma or equivalent

ELECTRICAL FOREMAN

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise electricians, apprentices, and helpers on commercial projects
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements
• Lay out electrical work and provide clear daily direction to the crew
• Plan manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and upcoming work
• Coordinate daily activities with the project manager, general contractor, inspectors, and other trades
• Monitor labor productivity, installation quality, and the project schedule
• Complete daily reports, timekeeping, safety documentation, and material requests
• Identify RFIs, additional work, conflicts, and potential change orders
• Communicate project issues to the project manager before they affect cost or schedule
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional jobsite
• Work alongside the crew when necessary to keep the project moving
• Complete punch-list items and assist with project closeout

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Minimum of five years of commercial electrical construction experience
• Previous experience supervising a commercial electrical crew
• Ability to independently read plans, lay out work, and plan installations
• Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems and installation methods
