Electrical Superintendent – Commercial Construction (Traveling)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to oversee commercial electrical construction projects from start to finish. The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for managing field operations, supervising electricians and subcontractors, coordinating schedules, maintaining quality standards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and delivering projects on time and within budget. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and extensive knowledge of commercial electrical systems and construction practices.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and supervise all field electrical operations on assigned commercial construction projects.
Manage and coordinate journeyman electricians, apprentices, subcontractors, and temporary labor.
Plan daily and weekly work activities to meet project schedules and milestones.
Review construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and project documents.
Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, inspectors, engineers, and other trades.
Ensure installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and project specifications.
Conduct jobsite safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and schedule impacts.
Order and coordinate delivery of materials, tools, and equipment.
Monitor productivity and labor efficiency while controlling project costs.
Perform quality control inspections to ensure workmanship meets company standards.
Assist with project planning, sequencing, manpower forecasting, and scheduling.
Maintain accurate daily reports, production records, and documentation.
Support project closeout activities, including punch lists and final inspections.
Mentor and develop field personnel while promoting teamwork and professionalism.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 7–10 years of commercial electrical construction experience.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, or equivalent leadership position.
Extensive knowledge of commercial electrical systems, construction methods, and NEC requirements.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and electrical schematics.
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and construction scheduling software.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to pass background screening and drug testing if required by project owners.
Preferred Qualifications
Current Journeyman or Master Electrician license (where applicable).
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
Experience with commercial remodels, tenant improvements, retail, healthcare, education, industrial, and large-scale commercial projects.
Experience managing multiple crews across several active job sites.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts and scaffolding, and access elevated work areas.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical activities throughout the workday.
Travel as required to assigned job sites.
