Position Summary/General Description:

The Electrical Journeyman performs skilled electrical work for the maintenance, repair, and alteration of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment. This role may involve providing direction to electrical helpers and requires responsibility for executing methods relative to maintenance and repair work, as well as preparing routine reports of work accomplished.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform electrician duties for various alterations, maintenance, and repair projects; install, maintain, and repair electrical lighting, power circuits, fixtures, and motors.
Maintain familiarity with plans and specifications for each project; consult with the Lead Job Foreman regarding code requirements.
Adhere to work site rules, standard operating procedures, and management control documents.
Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable guidelines.
Maintain, adjust, and repair circuit breakers and related operating equipment.
Perform commercial electrical layout and rough-ins.
Manage electrical panel assembly, maintenance, and system repairs.
Prepare for and install specialized electrical equipment.
Pre-fabricate electrical lighting and components.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of NEC requirements for both licensed and non-licensed tasks.
Foster positive relationships with the team, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Comply with company policies regarding substance and alcohol use.
Maintain good housekeeping in storage areas, trailers, and vehicles.
Work alongside crews to complete tasks as dictated by the project scope.
Strictly adhere to safety policies and PPE requirements; report violations immediately.
Identify and report hazardous conditions; evacuate areas if danger is imminent.
Adhere to assigned vehicle policies for trucks and vans.
Interface with subcontractors to ensure smooth project progress and compliance.
Coordinate with other trades professionally and treat all colleagues with integrity.
Maintain punctual attendance, including readiness for occasional odd hours, weekends, or holidays as required.
Perform additional duties as necessary or assigned.

Education & Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience in electrical maintenance, repair, or construction; three (3) yrs highly preferred.
Experience in the commercial construction industry; Associate’s degree in Electrical Trades or a related field preferred.
Considerable knowledge of various electrical equipment, installations, safety codes, and regulations.
Ability to work from drawings, sketches, and blueprints.
Skill in handling electrical tools and equipment common to the trade.
Expertise in programming, job start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills.

Qualified candidates have one of the following Licensing & Certifications:

New Mexico Electrical Foreman (EE98J)

New Mexico Licensed Journeyman Electrician (EE98J)
New Mexico Journeyman ES-3J or ES-7J
CNM Associate Degree in Electrical Trades
OSHA 10 a plus

Essential Physical Requirements:

Ability to balance, climb, bend, crawl, crouch, kneel, and reach overhead 51-100% of the time.
Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift 50+ lbs 51-100% of the time.
Working on ladders and scissor lifts

Work Environment (inside/outside):

The job is performed both indoors and outdoors, with frequent exposure to temperature extremes, loud noise, and confined spaces.

Other Requirements:

Must maintain any licenses and/or certifications required to operate in the State of New Mexico.
Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening.
