Position Summary:
The Industrial Electrician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems and production equipment in an active manufacturing facility. The role focuses on switchgear, three-phase 480 VAC power, conduit and large cable installation, machinery connections, and plant electrical maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems, production machinery, and facility equipment.
Run electrical power from switchgear, distribution panels, transformers, and disconnects to manufacturing equipment.
Work safely with electrical systems ranging from low voltage through 480 VAC and equipment rated up to approximately 600 amps.
Install and terminate panels, disconnects, transformers, motor control centers, junction boxes, and distribution equipment.
Bend and install rigid conduit, EMT, and other industrial raceway systems, and perform large cable and wire pulls.
Troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical issues involving motors, contactors, relays, starters, VFDs, disconnects, and power circuits.
Diagnose electrical faults using meters and other testing equipment, and interpret schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and equipment manuals.
Support the installation, relocation, startup, and commissioning of production machinery and plant equipment.
Document completed work and follow electrical codes, lockout/tagout, arc-flash requirements, and plant safety policies.
Required Qualifications:
3-5 years of hands-on industrial electrical experience.
Previous electrical maintenance, installation, or industrial construction experience within a manufacturing plant.
Strong experience with three-phase 480 VAC systems and high-amperage equipment rated up to approximately 600 amps.
Experience running power from switchgear or electrical distribution equipment to industrial machinery.
Strong conduit bending, conduit installation, cable pulling, wiring, and termination skills.
Experience troubleshooting motors, VFDs, starters, contactors, relays, electrical panels, power circuits, and production equipment.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and accepted industrial electrical installation practices.
Ability to work independently in a production environment and meet the physical demands of the position.
Preferred Background:
Industrial electrical experience within manufacturing.
California electrical certification, journeyman-level training, or equivalent technical education.
Bonus Skills (Not Required):
The following controls experience is helpful but is not required for consideration:
Familiarity with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
Experience with Allen-Bradley or Rockwell Automation PLC platforms.
Ability to assist with basic PLC I/O, sensor, field-device, HMI, and electrical-control troubleshooting.
