About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Elevator Service & Diagnostic Technician / Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair more than 15 elevators throughout Brooklyn, including residential passenger elevators and car elevators.

THIS IS NOT AN ELEVATOR INSTALLER POSITION.

We need a hands-on technician who knows how to find the cause of elevator problems and fix them. The right candidate should be strong in mechanical, electrical, and elevator control-system troubleshooting and be comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

Diagnose elevator mechanical, electrical, and control-system problems
Troubleshoot elevators that are malfunctioning or out of service
Perform repairs and adjustments to restore elevators to proper operation
Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections
Respond to emergency elevator breakdowns
Work on both residential passenger elevators and car elevators
Read and troubleshoot wiring diagrams, controllers, motors, door operators, sensors, switches, and related elevator components
Identify required replacement parts and communicate repair needs to management
Keep maintenance and repair records
Ensure work complies with applicable NYC elevator requirements
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of elevator service/repair experience preferred
Must have experience diagnosing and solving elevator problems
Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
Experience with elevator controllers and electrical systems
Ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals
Experience with residential elevators and/or car elevators
Ability to work independently
Tools can be provided
Driver’s license preferred for travel between Brooklyn properties
