Equipment Sales Representative – $24/hr + Commission
Equipment Sales Representative
Description
Clearwater, FL | Full-Time | Onsite | 40+ Hours/Week
A construction equipment and supplies company is looking for a sharp, ambitious, money-motivated salesperson to join our team.
We sell new and used underground construction equipment, utility locating equipment, electronics, accessories, and repair services to contractors nationwide. Construction equipment experience is NOT required. We can teach you the equipment. What is harder to teach is intelligence, work ethic, confidence, reliability, commercial judgment, and the desire to make money.
Compensation:
- $24/hour base plus commission on equipment sales and repairs
- Expect to make $70,000–$90,000 annually. That’s not hard to do for a strong candidate.
- PTO
- Holiday bonus
- An unusually fast learner with strong cognitive agility
- Highly motivated by money, achievement, and competition
- Friendly, confident, and assertive with customers
- Comfortable asking for the sale and collecting payment
- Persistent with follow-up and outbound calling
- Organized and disciplined with CRM, quotes, and callbacks
- Able to protect pricing and margins without being pushed around
- Technically curious and comfortable learning equipment
- Reliable and consistently physically present at work
- Hands-on and willing to help wherever needed
What You Will Do:
You will handle inbound customers, build equipment packages from individually priced components, follow up on quotes, call previous and dormant customers, identify trade-in opportunities, sell repair services, and actively work deals toward completion.
Used equipment requires judgment. Customers may not know exactly what they need, may already own compatible components, may have equipment to trade, or may challenge pricing. Your job is to understand the customer's situation, present the deal confidently, defend the value, follow up, and involve management when adjusting terms could legitimately close a good transaction.
This is sales, not order taking. When customers are not calling us, we expect salespeople to call customers and create business.
Reliability, Organization & Culture:
This is an onsite position requiring at least 40 hours per week physically at the office.
Customers call early, orders need to move, walk-ins need attention, and equipment has to be handled. Occasional after-hours responsiveness may be needed when a significant transaction is actively being worked. CRM discipline is mandatory. Leads, quotes, follow-ups, trade-ins, and next actions need to be properly recorded. It is a small, informal, and direct workplace. There is very little room for a “that's not my job” attitude.
This position is probably not for you if:
- You want a comfortable job where doing the minimum is enough
- You lose motivation after having a good commission month
- You prefer waiting for customers instead of creating business
- You dislike outbound calling or follow-up
- You need constant supervision
- You are frequently late, absent, or unavailable
- You struggle to learn new products or technology
- You get intimidated when customers challenge pricing
- You immediately want to discount whenever a customer asks
- You are uncomfortable asking directly for the sale or payment
- Difficult customers wear you down quickly
- You regularly forget quotes, callbacks, or CRM updates
- You strongly prefer narrow job responsibilities or remote work
