Estimator

Description

Estimator — Part-Time — Austin/Hill Country Custom Millwork

We are a high-end custom cabinetry and millwork shop serving Austin and the Hill Country. We build complex, architectural-grade work for custom builders, architects, and homeowners who care about craft and detail.

We're looking for a part-time Estimator to build accurate material and labor takeoffs from blueprints and plans, and to help refine pricing on existing bids. This is a numbers-heavy, detail-critical role — the kind of work where a missed dimension or a rounding shortcut turns into a real problem down the line. If you're the person who catches the error everyone else missed, we want to talk to you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Build material and labor takeoffs from architectural blueprints and scaled plans
Review and refine existing quotes and bids for accuracy before they go out
Break down cabinetry, millwork, and finish scopes into clear, itemized estimates
Cross-check quantities, dimensions, and specs against drawings — flag anything that doesn't add up
Track material pricing and update cost data as vendor pricing shifts
Coordinate with the Designer/PM and shop team on scope questions and clarifications
Maintain organized, well-documented estimate files for every project

WHAT WE NEED

  • EXTREMELY detail-oriented — this role lives and dies on accuracy
  • Strong with numbers — comfortable with takeoffs, unit pricing, and margin math
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints and scaled floor plans
  • Self-directed and organized — you manage your own workload and communicate proactively
  • Some background in cabinetry, millwork, construction, etc
Comfortable working independently with periodic check-ins

NICE TO HAVE

Experience estimating for cabinetry, millwork, or a related construction trade
Familiarity with Mozaik or similar cabinet design/estimating software
Background working with custom builders, architects, or designers
Advanced spreadsheet skills (formulas, cost templates, etc.)
